Hi @tjs, Happy to help! The game tells us that a developer is building 8 houses on a street. Houses 1, 3, 5, and 7 are on one side of the street and houses 2, 4, 6, and 8 are on the other side. Each house is one of three styles: R, S, or T. _ _ 1 2 _ _ 3 4 _ _ 5 6 _ _ 7 8 Now let's go through the rules. Rule 1: Adjacent houses are of different styles. This means that houses next to each other on the same side of the street (e.g. 1 and 3 or 6 and 8) cannot be of the same style. Therefore, we cannot have two of the same kind of house next to each other on either side of the street. Rule 2: No S faces another S. This means that houses facing each other (e.g. 1 and 2 or 5 and 6) cannot both be S. Rule 3: Every R has at least one T adjacent to it. This means that there cannot be an R that has S on both sides. Rule 4: House 3 is an R. Rule 5: House 6 is an S. _ _ 1 2 R _ 3 4 T S 5 6 _ _ 7 8 House 5 must be T because two S cannot face one another and two R cannot be adjacent to one another. Now let's go to the question stem. We are asked to select the house which cannot be a T. The answer is immediately clear from our setup above. House 7 cannot be T because two T cannot be adjacent to one another and House 5 must be T. Therefore, answer choice (D) is correct. Hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
