Sentence clarification

Hi, I was able to infer the main point of the passage because of the analogy provided, but while reading I had trouble understanding one of the sentences. May you clarify the following sentence? (e.g. simplifying it or turning it into SVO?) "Contrary to what many people seem to believe, however, it is not necessary to deny this fact in order to reject the view that tobacco companies should be held either morally or legally responsible for the poor health of smokers."     Good question, let's try to break it down clause by clause. The first part, before the however, is just telling us that what follows is an unpopular view so we can set that to the side for a moment. We are then told that we don't have to deny a certain fact to reject a view. The fact is what was referenced above, and the view is that tobacco companies are legally or morally culpable for the poor health of their users. So, in other words, we don't have to disagree with a certain fact in order to disagree that companies are liable.
