Can you explain why the answer is E and not B?

    @ohemaa n this passage, we aren’t so much evaluating a whole style of writing with an author as an example as we are looking at the author purposefully and evaluating the way to classify them. Does that help differentiate B and E for you?

    @Sam, (C) is wrong because the author's argument centers around the work of a particular writer and its affinity to the novelists of the previous generation rather than "historical connections among a group of writers." Usage of "long-held assumptions" in this answer choice also contradicts the passage that talks only about "recent criticism (line 1)." Does this make sense?
