Why is E Wrong?

The question reads : "The passage provides information that most helps to answer which one of the following questions?" E Says: "What are some applications of the techniques involved in radiocarbon dating other than their use in studying past earthquakes?" The last sentence of paragraph 1 reads : "These data can show the . location and frequency of past earthquakes AND . provide hints about the likelihood and location of . future earthquakes." This shows two applications 1) showing the frequency of past earthqakes; and 2) providing hints about the likelihood and location of future earthquakes How does this not show another application of carbon-14 techniques other than their use in studying past earthquakes?

    I see what you're saying, this is a good question. I think this is because the only way that carbon dating is useful in predicting future earthquakes is because it tells us about the location and frequency of past earthquakes. That is, carbon dating doesn't actually tell us anything about future quakes. It only tells about the past, which we can then use to make predictions about the future. That is, if we removed their use in studying past earthquakes, they would be useless for predicting future earthquakes.
