Hi all, thanks for your posts. Often, the first question on a game tests your understanding of the rules provided in the setup. This game gives us five indented rules: (1) there has to be at least two spaces between H and M (or M and H) (2) G is the day before K (so it's a GK block) (3) M has to come before J (M > J) (4) F comes before K (F > K) but F comes after L (L > F). Putting this together: L > F > K (5) L cannot be second The most efficient way to approach a question like Question 1 here is check to see whether each answer choice is consistent with the given rules. We can eliminate (A), because it violates part of the fourth given rule (L has to come before F, but in (A), F is first). We can eliminate (B) because it violates the fifth given rule (L cannot be second). We can eliminate (C) because it violates the third given rule (M has to come before J). We can eliminate (E) because it violates the first given rule (there has to be two spaces, at least, between H/M and M/H). Thus, by process of elimination, we can select (D). Hope this helps.

In the question I'm looking at, D violates the M__H / H__M rule and has four spots between M and H. Have the answer choice options changed since this explanation was given?

^ there needs to be at least 2 spots between M and H, therefore having 4 spots is okay. M__...H/H__...M
