Can you explain why answer choice (e) is correct? I know that simulating large-scale trends are mentioned in the first passage and the parallel computing system in the second, but I am having trouble connecting them together. Thank you!

The author of the first passage never explicitly uses the term "parallel computing," the method they discuss where "The calculations are divided among the individual desktop computers, which work simultaneously on the overall problem." Based on the definition of "parallel computing" given in Passage B, it's clear that both authors are discussing parallel computing. Passage A teaches us that large-scale climate trends are computation-intensive. Passage B states that parallel computing is ideal for computation-intensive problems. This so how we know that both authors would agree that parallel computing would be the best means for simulating large-scale climate trends. Hope this helps!     I did not choose E because of the word "best". Could you explain why the authors both agree it is the best method?

    @Shiyi-Zhang, Regarding (E), passage A's author believes that using multiple computers at the same time is a much better method of simulating climate trends than just having one computer doing this task. Although passage A's author never states this as parallel computing, we know that this is an instance of parallel computing because passage B gives us a description of what parallel computing is. Additionally, because climate trends "share a large number of similar elements" (lines 38-39), the author of passage B would certainly suggest that its problems would be able to be solved by using parallel computing. From this, we can infer that the authors would both agree that parallel computing is the best method for simulating large-scale climate trends. Does this make sense?
