can someone further elaborate this answer choice. i don't see how this is relevant.

    It is a very small detail but in the first sentence talking about this concept it states " Splitters, on the other hand, tend to use the increasingly popular..." The concept is becoming increasingly popular and therefore has more supporters now than it did in the past.
