Question about Answer E and making an assumption

Hello! For Answer E, I ultimately ruled it out because I thought it might be too much of an assumption/outside of the scope of the info we have to say that if the keyboard had been made for computers, it would not have been designed to limit speed typing. I wanted to ask about how to do questions like this in the future and how not to get tripped up!

Hi, I think the bar for making an assumption or bringing in outside knowledge is essentially common sense. While the author does not explicitly state it, I think they do imply that newer typewriters and computers do not jam since we are told that only early typewriters jam. However, as someone who lives in the world, common sense would tell us that computer keys are not prone to jam in the way described. Since it seems the jamming issue is not present for computers, we wouldn't use the same in effective t design on a keyboard designed for computers.
