Intermediate conclusion

After getting this question wrong, I can see that the first sentence is an intermediate conclusion. But I just read the first and second sentence as two premises. I honestly don't know a way to remedy that problem quickly. Any good tips on how to see that more quickly?

I would try the because/therefore test. If you can say X therefore Y, X supports Y, and if you can say Y because X, X supports Y.
