Why is A better than C?

I initially went with A since the word "response" was actually in the first sentence of the third paragraph, so it seemed to fit almost exactly. However, the author did seem to make a suggestion to modify his interpretation (in lines 53-58, the author says "it would be worthwhile..."). These answers both seem to be great choices so how do I choose? Thank you!

Hi @caydencemarley, Thanks for the question! Remember that the answer choice has to be 100% correct. If any part of it is wrong, the whole answer choice is wrong. (C) talks about how the author “illustrates the thesis with an example.” Does the example of the movie musical ILLUSTRATE the example? No, it serves as a counterpoint. And then (C) says that the passage summarizes the scholar’s interpretation of the example. Does the passage do that? No, there’s no interpretation of the movie musical. So (C) is wrong. (A) doesn’t have those problems, and so is the correct answer. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
