I was confused with the term "certain bird species." If answer A suggested that moose eats food that "certain species of birds" need to survive, I would have understood. Please help me when certain term are important and when it's not. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the question! Here, the use of “certain bird species” in the stimulus just refers to “some bird species.” Like when the teacher says “certain individuals in this class misbehave,” she just means “some individuals in this class misbehave.” The reason they do this is because which exact bird species is irrelevant for this question, so they just write “some” or “certain.” You shouldn’t think too much about it. The stimulus basically says that some unprotected areas have more numbers of some bird species than comparable areas inside the park, which is presumably protected. We’re supposed to explain this, and (A) tells us why. “The birds” refers to the “certain bird species.”
