Why is B wrong?

Hi, could someone please explain why B is wrong? Thanks!

    @swan, (B) is incorrect because the author is not saying that the study of history should avoid contingency, quite the opposite. He argues for a perspective that would "restore us to the contemplation of historical contingency, particularity and novelty, all of which can serve as stimuli to serious thought. Perhaps what is needed is a historical perspective that seeks to include...the unrepeatable and particular details of historical events "(lines 43-49), suggesting that this approach would ultimately lead to narrative satisfaction.
