The passage does not contain the information necessary to answer the question posed in answer choice A. Answer choice E reads "What is a factor that contributed to the shift by recording companies toward releasing vintage jazz recordings?" This passage contains at least one answer to this question as follows: "the economics were irresistible: it is far more profitable to wrap new covers around albums paid for generations ago than it is to find, record, and promote new talents."
