Answer choice B vs C

Just wondering if you can clarify why the answer choice is C. In the last paragraph it states that "....they eventually evolve the ability to identify them by their characteristic flavors or odors, or both." Would that not imply that insects that feed exclusively on botanically restricted groupls identify these plants using their taste and smell? Thanks.
