I see how C could makes sense but I was drawn to B. Could you please explain how you know to eliminate B?

    B would mean that those wealthy people who installed these squeaky floors may actually fear ninjas MORE - their efforts to know if they're there would be thwarted by ninjas' skills. The best way to think about this is how we can prove that most people didn't fear ninjas. Answer C covers that - that the wealthy people who did fear and protect against ninjas were just a few people.
