Having a difficult time understanding how A weakens the argument. I understand that the other answers either strengthen or do nothing to impact the argument.

The argument sets up a situation where two behaviors are contrasted, giving us different results. A shows that the behaviors actually are commonly found together, suggesting that TV viewers may get a surface level understanding from TV, and then supplement it with more in depth analysis from Newspapers.
