Could you explain why A is the correct answer here? I don't see how this answer undermines the author's analysis.

    The passage tells us around lines 6-11 that the Women's missionary societies were one of the reasons for the in crease in Woman doctors sent to China. However, if they were not operating in most of these instances, this would contradict the passage.
