Why is C not correct?

Can you explain why C is wrong? In line 39 it states, "Gombrich argues that emotional responses to art are ersatz: art triggers remembrances of previously experienced emotions." How is C wrong? I'm interpreting this as the author illustrating that Gombrich does recognize emotion in art, therefore I see C as a direct contradiction.
