If the question asks, "If Nassar's salary is the same as that of one other partner" why must we follow the original rules and not pair I, L or K with N as the question says "one other partner"

Hi, we must follow the rules because they are the rules. When a question introduces a new condition (like it does here with the new condition that N is equal to someone else) this is in addition to the existing rules, not replacing the existing rules. The only time the original rules are not in effect is if the question explicitly states that we are replacing a rule with a new rule.

Also., I think that we actually could pair N with I, just not with K or L.

I honestly don't understand this lesson.
