Text evidence for answer choice B

Can someone explain the text evidence they used to select answer choice B? What threw me off here was the mention of safe for humans. In the second passage I see that there is a mention of scallops, but other than that I don't see any explicit mentions on the effect on humans. Thanks in advance.

Hello @shafieiava, You are correct about the scallops, Passage B does support the first half of answer choice B. As for Passage A, take a look at line 16. Barite is "used as an inert filler in some foods and is more familiar in its medical use as the 'barium meal' administered before X-raying the digestive tract." It doesn't say specifically that these practices are safe, but the fact that this substance is given to patients by medical professionals is enough for us to make that inference. We don't need each passage to address both humans and marine organisms. This is why B is correct. It takes half from Passage A and half from Passage B.

I know It states about how humans can ingest barite and does not have a real effect on humans; however, the question is asking what can be inferred from both passages together, not just one alone. The correct answer choice is only mentioned in passage A so what from passage B backs this up to be the correct answer choice?

Hi, line 55 tells us that barite can be harmful to marine organisms.
