Can someone please explain why C is the correct answer? I chose E, so having a breakdown of why the other answers are wrong would be helpful!

E weakens the argument because it shows a reason why the Brazil study may not be generalizable to the US. C is irrelevant because ornamental trees are only ornamental, so do not contribute to production.
