Why is C wrong?

Could I have help? I was stuck between B and C, i see how B is correct but how would we rule out C?

    @denley, C is worded too strongly and is not totally accurate. The other does mention other sources of influence and names White resident traders and neighbors, not earlier missionaries, so we can get rid of this choice. With E, it's too strongly worded to accurate fit the author's objection in this passage, so we can get rid of this choice, too. With B, this relates to the author's objection in the last paragraph. There, the author says that McLaughlin overlooks earlier sources of influence that might have amplified the impact of the missionaries. Thus, B is the correct answer choice.
