The link b/w Deconstronctionist and the terms signifier and signified

Hello. I missed the link between the Deconstructionists using the term signifier and signified. I see in the second paragraph that the author states that "The use of these particular terms underlined the seriousness of the naming process and its claim on our attention." But I didn't make the connection between the author stating this and Deconstructionists using the terms themselves. Is the "contemporary school of literary criticism" mentioned in the first paragraph the Deconstructionists? Is the contemporary school of literary criticism (aka the Deconstructionists) the movement that adopted the terms signifier and signified in lines 12-13?

    Hello @nizhoni, The main idea I took from paragraph one is that the contemporary school of literary criticism = poststructuralism = deconstruction. They are the same. The contemporary school is still popularly referred to as the latter two (lines 10-11). We are only talking about one movement here. "The first neologisms adopted by this movement were signifier and signified." (Line 12). You are correct. This is the connection that you missed the first time. The words "this movement" link deconstructionists to signifier and signified. Always keep an eye out for points in the passage in which the author equates two or more terms. You may want to highlight it or make a note.
