These lines are an example of how King disagreed with Thoreau (Thoreau wasn't led by 'natural law'), and they were also an example of how King agreed with other transcendentalists who did believe a higher law trumped human law.

Hi, the goal of the final paragraph was to show how King was in line with the transcendental movement. While earlier the passage showed that he differed from Thoreau, this is not the point of the final paragraph. The quotes simply are intended to show how he was similar to the transcendental view on natural law.
