So I chose E because the question asked what would a parent be forced to do Except, so when E said "limiting the career potential of one parent, often the mother, who assumes greater child-care responsibility" instead of "limiting one's career to take the primary child-rearer, as a mother" I deduced that E wasn't the answer based on its tense. Do you all have tips or corrections for me?

Hi @ryn, I think all of the answers are written in the same tense, as is the passage. I'm not sure if I understand your question, but the quotes things you wrote are both in the present tense, as is the bulk of the final paragraph where we get support for E.
