Why would everyone plays?

The question stem does not say everyone must play one sport. Since other questions would always include this kind of sentence. So could anyone not join any sports?

In this game, the first line actually dictates that "each of six people...plays exactly one of the two sports." This is how we know that every variable must be placed within the game.
