Hi @hfatima1, Thanks for the question! So we know that the birds are either on exhibit or in the two cages. And when the birds are exhibited, they’re exhibited in pairs, with one male and one female out. Now let’s take a look at the second rule of the passage. We’re told that if two birds are of the same sex and of the same kind as each other, they’re not caged together. Now realize that we have 3 male parakeets. Let’s say one of them is in cage 1 and the other is in cage 2. Where does that leave the third one? Well, it can’t go in cage 1, since there’s a male parakeet there. But it also can’t go in cage 2, because there’s a male parakeet there too, and male parakeets can’t be caged together! That means that the third male parakeet has to be on exhibit, and since the birds are exhibited in pairs, there’s also always a female parakeet out there too.
