So do we not pay attention to the part that says 2 letter grades are consecutive if and only if they are adjacent. Then the rules go on to state how some letters that are not adjacent are consecutive?

    Not sure I am understanding your question here but the rule that "two letter grades are consecutive if and only if they are adjacent in the alphabet" definitely applies. So A and B are consecutive as are B and C, C and D and D and E. Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
