Knowing when to diagram and when not to

For this question I spent quite a bit of time making a correct diagram and finding a deduction. As I went through the answer choices while referring to my diagram, I couldn't decide on an answer. I then reread the question and simply found that the answer was given in the first two sentences. How do I know when to not waste time on a diagram?

It's great to practice diagramming to gain familiarity with it. Over time, you'll gain more of an intuitive feel for conditional statements, and diagramming for practice certainly helps.
In general, though, I'd suggest only diagramming questions if you feel like you need to in order to understand them. Don't go into a question assuming you have to diagram it. Instead, go into the stimulus and try to understand it as much as you can without diagramming. If you're grasping it well, then great. If not, it's not a big deal, because then you have diagramming as a tool in your toolbox. In this case, it looks like you could fully understand this question without diagramming, and diagramming may have slowed you down a bit here.
