I don't understand the explanation given for D. I can see how "heart condition" is different from "coronary disease" which would mean the (D) has no impact but if heart condition and coronary diseases were approximately synonymous, why wouldn't a sample where some were predisposed to coronary disease not weaken it?

Hi, I would slightly disagree with the explanation given, I think that since the passage seems to use the terms interchangeably we shouldn't have any issue with doing so in the answers.
I would dislike D because it just doesn't give us enough about the potential sampling error, if there even were one. If we want the sample to be representative of the general population then we actually want to include people with preexisting conditions. Moreover even if we should have excluded them, we actually have no idea what including them would do to our results.
