Why B?

@joshuavt The prompt about the extinction of animals can be boiled down to that it's not worth trying to save animals if they're going to go extinct eventually anyway. B is very similar in that it says that it's not worth trying to save a car if it's going to die eventually anyway. The other answers argue for reasons not to invest in or keep up something for different reasons - such as that earthquakes are infrequent, or that traffic would occur anywhere. These don't parallel the reasoning because they don't follow the pattern of "it's not worth doing X if it's all for naught eventually anyway."
