I definitely knew if it wasn't B, it was D, and understand D is definitely correct. I just don't know why B is incorrect or even less correct than D. The only premise I see is "anyone who's read will agree" meaning the argument most definitely relies on people agreeing on something that may not be the case.

After re-reading the answer, I think the extreme language in the answer is what makes it wrong. If it was "may not be the case" it could've been more correct.

I think B is wrong because the author does not rely on opinion for the premise that each element is plausible. Rather the author is stating that as thier position, and noting that everyone who read it would agree. Since we generally don't challenge the veracity of premises, B isn't actually an issue with the argument. Note that B would be a strong attack if the premise was just that "however readers agree X" which is distinct from saying "X is true, and readers agree with me" in once case the author expresses their own view, in the other the author merely reports the views of others.
