Where does it say that he wants to comment on contemporary life, instead of just depicting it? Line 36 only talks about his urge to depict realism. How do we know that he wants to comment on contemporary life or society's values?

@Nishant-Varma, if you look at lines 40-45, you'll see that it says that Lichtenstein's work exuded a "deliberate naïveté, intended as a response to the excess of sophistication he observed." This implies that he's depicting contemporary life to comment on it, so that's how we get to E as the correct answer choice.
