There are a couple of errors here. First, the overall sample is questionable. Not only is it small, but it's highly unrepresentative since people who write unsolicited letters to radio stations are probably not at all representative of the general listening public. Second, the author makes a truly baffling move: they decide that since they have evidence suggesting something is unpopular, this must show that the thing actually is popular. This is just categorically dumb: seeing evidence people don't like something does not constitute proof that other people like that thing.
