Can someone please explain how B would support a challenge to the explanation of the increase of cataract operations? Thank you.

@mprezzy, Let's take a look. (B) says, "Any one individual’s chance of developing cataracts is greater than it was ten years ago." With (B), a greater chance of getting cataracts means that we would likely see more people with these cataracts who would have to get surgery. Thus, (B) is giving us an alternative explanation, thereby supporting a challenge to the author's explanation of the increase in the number of cataract operations. Does this make sense? Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thank you. So there were 4 answers choices here that supported the passage and 1 that did not. The one that did not weakened (showing an alternative explanation) and is the correct answer? I also realized when I crossed out that words " a challenge to" it was crystal clear to me what I was looking for. Is that just a coincidence?
