I picked A because I believed that the presence of other gasses would weaken the argument because the presence of other gasses could have been when fusion had been achieved, not just helium-4 gas.

Hi, the argument is that since h4 is a byproduct of fusion, finding h4 is proof that fusion happened. This is flawed since something else could have caused the presence of the h4, not just fusion. This is why C is right, since it gives us another reason to think that the H4 wasn't chased by fusion.
For A, the gas isn't where fusion happens, it's something that is created by fusion. However, we know nothing about other gasses, only about H4, so A doesn't really give any relevant information.
