I am struggling with this question because I don't understand why it can't be 7. The restrictions are set on friday and saturday which would allow us to have all three movies play on thursday with only regards to "H" being the latest showing.
The different possibilities for the showings are:
T: LGH or LH
F: HL
S: LH or LG
Please Explain

I've read the other questions and explanations but it didn't help.

Hi sendi,
If we have LGH the first day, we can never have L again. So, on Saturday, only one film can be shown, making it a maximum of 6 (three T, two F, one S).

You are correct, all three movies can be played on Thursday. However the stipulation is that it can't be played again. So, If limelight is played on Thursday it can't be played again on Saturday.

I chose the answer that had five, but I understand my mistake. I did not count everything: L, G, and H. With that said, Emil says that on Saturday only one film can be shown, how is that possible? This is my diagram for the question:
Thurs.: L, G, H = 3 films this day
Fri.: H, G or G = 1 or 2 films this day
Sat.: G or H = 1 film this day
Which, max equals 6 films during the festival. Will someone please explain why only one film for Friday, please?

Oops! I'm sorry. I read everything wrong and typed my question incorrectly. I thought that Emil said that only one film could be shown on Friday. Sorry! I re-read his explanation.
