The explanation for answer E's incorrectness is that we know nothing about the composition of the ocean during normal periods. However...The stem states that Normally this phenomenon has no effect on the overall composition of the ocean. Therefore do we actually know that, normally, in interglacial periods, there would be no change at all in the composition of the ocean?

    Hi @Jolie, Thanks for the question! We know that there is no effect normally on the overall composition of the ocean. But we don't know how quickly the composition of seawater changes in interglacial periods. If there's also no change, then the composition would change by the same amount - 0. And that would make (E) wrong. Hope this helps!
