'Every' instead of 'any'?

To me, it makes the most sense that "However, the press agent did not tell every reporter everything about the accident." implies that there are some reporters that know everything about the accident, but not all. If they had used "any" instead of "every", then it would make sense to have A as the answer choice, but since the every implies that there are some that do indeed know more than others, I'm having issues understanding why A is the correct answer. A: No reporter knows any more about the accident than any other reporter.
