confused about conclusion

I think the block you're experiencing might be because you're using the phrase "brings about" to interpret that conditional statement. "Brings about" means "causes." You'll learn more about cause-and-effect statements later in the course (specifically in the Strengthen and Weaken modules), but conditional statements are *not* cause-and-effect statements. "Depends" is a term that refers to "necessary conditions." As such, a statement that uses "depends" should be interpreted as a conditional statement, not a cause-and-effect statement. The more accurate way to read that conclusion is "progress requires unreasonable people." It's not saying that unreasonable people "bring about" or "cause" the progress (or, even more confusingly, that progress "brings about" or "causes" the existence of unreasonable people). It's just saying that "if there is progress, then there must be unreasonable people."

I had some difficulty with this question. My difficulty came between answer choice B and C. C looked very attractive. However, I knew deep down that B was probably the correct choice. This is how I diagrammed the stimulus. P: RP ----> AW P: UR ----> Not AW C: AP ----> UR Contrapositive - RP ----> Not AP Why is C wrong here? Can someone please explain to me why this is wrong? Is Answer Choice C mistaking Necessary for Sufficient? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi JosephRocco, C is saying that UP - Progress. B is saying thatNot RP - P C is incorrect because it confuses a necessary condition for a sufficient one. While we know that we cannot have progress without unreasonable people, we do not know that unreasonable people will guarantee progress. Nothing in your diagram (which is great by the way) tell us that anything will guarantee progress, so C is incorrect.

This is unrelated to this question. However, it is important. Practice Test #94 doesn't have a scaled conversion table after one takes it. Does anyone know what a total of 59 questions right gets a person on a scaled conversion score? Can someone try to get that conversion scaled score input for PT #94? It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
