I'm confused as to why the answer is C and not A.

I felt like C was too broad like it described what the argument as a whole was doing, but that A discussed specifically what the statement was doing. I mapped out the argument as follows; P Seeminlgy inconsequential.... P A rise of 2 degrees prevents vertical mixing P which restricts available nutrients for phto... P zooplankton feed upon phto which feed everyone else C the decline is inevitable

Hi Morganbunch, A is incorrect as the fact that zooplankton eat phytoplankton is not supported by any other facts. It is an assertion with no support- or a premise, which furthers the idea that the rest of the food chain will decline as a result of global warming. The statements that plankton feed on upwellings and the statement in question are not really related- although they both serve to support the conclusion that the overall population is at risk from global warming. Your map of the argument is pretty good- and in your argument map you note that the statement in question is a premise, not really supported by any other part of the argument.
