Hi! In a question like this, where there are two different people presenting a claim, are both parts important in understanding this question? It seems like I only used the passage that the statement came from. Thanks in advance!

Great question. You're right—for this particular question, you only
need Joseph's part to correctly answer the question. However, this is
also from an older practice test (December 1999/PT 30). When these
types of questions appear on the newer tests, the questions tend to
focus on the relationship between what the people are talking/arguing
about, so it's always important to read both things people are saying.
